HM Baillie Scott was the Architect who designed and built Home Close for retired jeweller Ernest Bourne in 1911.
At that time there was a rich Arts & Crafts movement in the Cotswolds with a wealth of talented craftsmen and artists available to bring his vision to reality. He was a follower of William Morris and renowned for not only his architectural designs, but also his furniture and interior aesthetic and for designing houses laid out with a series of accompanying garden rooms. There is a very strong architectural style close to the house in the Italianate courtyard and as you move up the terraced levels it gradually becomes less formal.
The garden has a wide selection of planting from bulbs in the spring through to the glorious herbaceous boarders of summer, a calming white garden and rose parterre and productive kitchen garden.

Visits are for up to 2 hours and can include a ‘guided’ or ‘wander at will’ option and refreshments with cake or for evening visits you may prefer wine and canapes.
